Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a screening of the award-winning PBS Independent Lens documentary The Librarians (NR, 84 minutes) at MCC's Luecht Auditorium. This timely and thought-provoking film explores the evolving role of librarians across the United States and how local book review policies are shaping communities and influencing public discourse. Through personal stories and historical context, the film illuminates the challenges and triumphs of those who stand at the intersection of access, education, and freedom of information.

Following the film, there will be a brief panel discussion with Kelly Jensen, Senior Editor at Book Riot, and Kristin Pekoll, former YA librarian from Wisconsin and author of Beyond Banned Books: Defending Intellectual Freedom throughout Your Library.
