Event Details

A coalition of McHenry County public libraries are pleased to host Abbott Kahler on Thursday, November 14th at 7 pm at the Luecht Auditorium at McHenry County College. Copies of Eden Undone, Where You End, and The Ghosts of Eden Park will be available for purchase and signing at the event courtesy of Read Between the Lynes bookstore of Woodstock. Registration is required for this free author event, and your Crystal Lake Public Library card is required in order to register.
Abbott Kahler, formerly writing as Karen Abbott, is the New York Times bestselling author of Sin in the Second City; American Rose; Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy; The Ghosts of Eden Park; Where You End and Eden Undone. She is also the host of Remus: The Mad Bootleg King, a podcast about legendary Jazz Age bootlegger George Remus. A native of Philadelphia, she lives in New York City and in Greenport, New York.
This author event is part of the McHenry County Libraries - Let's All Read Together community reading program. County residents are encouraged to come together in a shared reading experience.  Kahler's recent book, Eden Undone is an incredible true story of murder, romance, and a fateful search for utopia in the Galápagos Islands. Kahler's recent fiction debut, Where You End, was quoted by author Paula Hawkins as being "a perfectly paced, addictive thriller with a vicious twist". Copies of these books are available to borrow from your local library.  Libraries will host discussions of her books, in advance of the author event.

This event is sponsored by Algonquin Area Public Library, Cary Area Public Library, Crystal Lake Public Library, Fox River Grove Memorial Library, Harvard-Diggins Library, Huntley Area Public Library, Johnsburg Library, Marengo-Union Library, McHenry Public Library, Nippersink Public Library and Woodstock Public Library.
